Editorial Policy

Last updated: September 1, 2026

This Editorial Policy explains how Decor Pause writes, edits, and presents the home-decor how-tos on https://decorpause.com/. It sits next to our About page, Corrections and Updates page, Contact page, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Use.

Decor Pause is a rental and small-space styling site. We are not a newsroom, a product review mill, or a renovation contractor. The public contact email is hi@decorpause.com.

What we publish

We publish original how-tos for people furnishing or restyling rented rooms and small homes. Typical topics are curtains, furniture layout, lighting, rugs, storage, and wall treatments that do not require a renovation.

Each guide is meant to be used in a real room. We prefer one clear method, measured sizes in inches and centimeters, and a keep-versus-skip table over a long list of options. We do not publish office-trend roundups or news-farm posts as the core of this site.

How a guide is written

  • Original work. Headlines, structure, and the method in each how-to are written for this site. We do not copy another publisher’s article.
  • Measured claims. Sizes, gaps, and wait times are stated in inches and centimeters, or in hours, so a reader can check them in the room. If a number is an example, we label it as an example.
  • Renter limits. When a method can mark paint, need a hole, or risk a deposit, we say so. We do not promise zero damage.
  • Keep and skip. We say what to try first and what to skip, including tools that only help if the lease already allows them.
  • No medical or legal advice. Decor Pause does not give health, legal, or landlord-tenant legal advice. A lease always wins over a blog post.

Who writes this

Guides are published under the public author name Decor Pause. The same byline is used on every how-to so readers can tell who is responsible for the page. There is no separate news desk and no unnamed “staff writer” line.

If a guest ever writes a guide, that page will name them. We do not sell coverage.

Photos and illustrations

Featured images are 1920×1080 JPEGs chosen to show a lived-in room, not a logo. Some photographs on this site are generated as room stills and then cropped for the page. In-body figures may be photographs or simple diagrams. Captions describe the room or the step, not a brand we were paid to show.

We do not use a generic site logo as the article preview image.

Advertising

The Site may show advertising, including Google AdSense. Ads are not editorial. A sponsor or advertiser does not choose our keep-versus-skip lists, measurements, or headlines. We do not currently run an affiliate program on this Site. If that changes, we will say so on this page and on the relevant guide.

AI use

We may use software to help draft, check sizes, or make room photographs. A person at Decor Pause reviews the method, the measurements, and the published page before it goes live. Software does not get a byline. If a generated room still is used as a featured image, it is still our responsibility to make sure the preview matches the guide.

Updates and errors

How-tos can go stale when products, leases, or tools change. We correct factual errors and update a guide when a measurement, a wait time, or a method is wrong. We do not silently delete a published how-to to hide a mistake. The full process is on Corrections and Updates.

What we will not do

  • Pretend a paid placement is an independent how-to
  • Invent measurements or FAQ questions we did not research
  • Give medical, financial, or legal advice
  • Publish gossip, crime news, or office-trend listicles as if they were Decor Pause how-tos
